LUCKNOW, Aug. 7 -- Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday urged party workers and office-bearers to maintain discipline in conduct and speech, particularly on social media, and refrain from making comments related to caste or religion. Addressing party leaders from various districts at the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Auditorium at the party's state headquarters here, Yadav said that while positive information circulates on mainstream and social media, misleading content also spreads. He advised workers against engaging in altercations and urged them not to make or write anything inappropriate. "There is a need for restraint in both conduct and speech," he emphasised, cautioning leaders against making comments along caste or religious lines. He said such discipline was essential for strengthening the organisation down to the booth level and ensuring united support for candidates contesting on the party's bicycle symbol. The Samajwadi Party on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Uttar Pradesh, demanding an inquiry into complaints that booth level officers (BLOs) and supervisors are being appointed or replaced on the basis of caste and religion across assembly constituencies. The memorandum was submitted by party leaders KK Srivastava, Harishchandra Singh and Radheshyam Singh who sought prompt action. SP state president Shyam Lal Pal alleged that under pressure from BJP ministers, MPs, MLAs and organisational office-bearers, BLOs and supervisors in all 403 assembly constituencies are being changed along caste and religious lines. The party specifically cited the 214-Arya Nagar assembly constituency in Kanpur, where appointed BLOs and supervisors are allegedly being replaced without prior notice or any stated reason....
