Lucknow, Sept. 20 -- Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday welcomed some leaders from the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party into the SP fold, asserting that their entry would further strengthen the party's PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) social justice platform. Addressing a press conference, Yadav announced the induction of Mayank Dwivedi, who had contested the Banda Lok Sabha seat on a BSP ticket, along with his supporters. Dwivedi's father, Purushottam Naresh Dwivedi, is a former MLA from Naraini in Banda. Nand Kishore Giri from Shravasti district, who quit the BJP, and Jitendra Kumar Gupta, a five-time local body chairman and former state president of the Uttar Pradesh Chairmen's Association, also joined the SP with their colleagues. Akhilesh Yadav congratulated the new entrants, saying their arrival had strengthened the path of social justice. Criticising the BJP government, the SP chief alleged that the pace of development seen during the Samajwadi Party's tenure had slowed down. He accused the administration of registering false cases. Yadav also criticised the disruption of a student union programme in Rae Bareli and the vandalism of SP MP Pappu Nishad's car.
