Lucknow, April 17 -- A high-level delegation from the All India Muslim Intellectual Society (AIMIS) met Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly speaker Satish Mahana at his Vidhan Sabha office on Thursday. The discussion centered on the socio-economic and educational trajectory of the minority community. The delegation included prominent academics and professionals, such as Prof Abbas Ali Mehdi (vice-chancellor, Era University), Dr Ammar Anis Nagrami (general secretary, AIMIS), Yasir Ansari (head of the Urdu department, Mumtaz PG College), Mustajab Ahmed and Ahmad Nagrami (convenor, AIMIS). During the meeting, the Society submitted a formal memorandum highlighting critical areas for intervention. The discussions centered on educational reform by bridging the community's educational status gap, vocational growth by expanding technical and skill-based training for the youth to enhance employability and welfare access by ensuring the seamless delivery of government schemes to eligible beneficiaries. Speaker Satish Mahana lauded the Society's proactive approach, calling the intellectual class's involvement vital for mainstreaming the community and driving state progress. He specifically commended Era University's contributions, noting that he consistently receives positive reports regarding its academic standards.
