AI clip-on device from IIIT-A helps curb online spending
PRAYAGRAJ, March 21 -- Researchers at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad have developed a smart clip-on device that monitors e-wallet use and helps users control their spending. The team has received an Indian patent for the innovation.
The small device can be attached to a smartphone or computer screen. It uses artificial intelligence and sensors such as cameras, microphones, accelerometers and gyroscopes. It tracks transactions on platforms like PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm and WhatsApp Pay.
Officials said the device studies user behaviour, including facial expressions, and sends real-time alerts to prevent impulsive spending. It also prepares monthly reports and gives suggestions for better use of e-wallets.
The device was developed by prof Ranjit Singh along with research scholar Kajol, prof Dibyojyoti Bhattacharjee of Assam University, and Sumaiya Gauhar from Aligarh Muslim University.
Security features include biometric locking, end-to-end encryption, remote data wipe and a strong, waterproof design. The system also follows India's data protection rules to ensure user privacy.htc...
