Lucknow, Nov. 5 -- The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is planning introduction of an AI-based centralised depot management and bus operation planning system to improve the frequency, reliability and efficiency of its bus services. Transport minister (independent charge) Dayashankar Singh gave this information through a press release here on Wednesday. "A tender had been invited for the proposed project, estimated to cost around Rs 30 crore. The initiative is being taken under the Union government's Intelligent Transport System (ITS) scheme," he said. The corporation operates around 14,300 buses through 120 depots, transporting over 17 lakh passengers daily. The proposed digital platform will integrate schedules of all depots and use AI to analyse passenger demand, route utilisation, travel time and fleet availability to determine optimal bus deployment and frequency.
