LUCKNOW, July 9 -- Southern Uttar Pradesh - districts bordering Madhya Pradesh - will get moderate to heavy rainfall while Lucknow to get light rainfall in the next 24 hours, the weatherman said on Tuesday. "Districts in Bundelkhand region will experience brisk rain," said Atul Kumar Singh, senior scientist at Lucknow met office. He said, "The western end of the monsoon trough is slightly north of its normal position and the eastern end is near its normal position, due to which there was scattered rainfall in some places on Tuesday. And due to the low pressure area situated over West Bengal gradually moving in the west-north-west direction, there is a possibility of scattered rainfall in other areas except heavy rainfall at some places in the southern part of the state in the next 2-3 days." The state forecast is rain, thunder showers very likely at a few places over UP. There is a warning that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely at isolated places over the state. Heavy rain is very likely at isolated places over the state. The state capital experienced light rain towards evening that brought relief from high humidity. The rain deficit in the district is pegged at 33%. Lucknow got 1.3 mm rainfall on Tuesday after day temperature rose to 38.5 degrees. Lucknow has received 89.6 mm rainfall against a normal of 133 mm since June 1, according to IMD data. The forecast for the state capital is partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain/thunder showers. Maximum and minimum temperature will be around 35 and 29 degrees Celsius. UP as a whole got 155.3 mm rainfall against normal of 152.1 mm, surplus of 2% and East UP got 135.3 mm against normal 169.3 mm, deficit 20% while West UP received 183.9 actual rain against normal 128.1 mm, excess by 44%. District Etah received 249.3 mm actual rainfall against normal 84.7 mm, surplus by 194%. Mahoba got 242.5 mm of actual rain against 108.6 mm normal, an excess of 132%. Taj city Agra 208.1 mm actual, normal 95 mm, 119% excess. Hamirpur received 284.3 mm rain against normal 132.9 mm, a surplus of 114%. District Lalitpur got maximum 351.6 mm rainfall against normal 172.5 mm, excess by 104%. Prayagraj received 174.9 mm rainfall, normal 134.5 mm, 30% excess while Varanasi got 154.8 mm actual against 153.7 normal, departure by 1 percent. Deoria got only 9 mm rain, against normal of 188.9 mm, deficit 95%. Gautam Buddh Nagar received only 15 mm against normal 84.8 mm, deficit 82%, Kushinagar got 41 mm rainfall against normal of 185.3 mm, deficit 78%, Ambbedkarnagar got 41.6 mm rainfall against normal 178.4 mm, resulting in deficit by 75%.
