After 10.3 mm rain, Prayagraj roads submerged
PRAYAGRAJ, July 21 -- Heavy rain lashed Prayagraj on Monday, leading to widespread waterlogging in several parts of the city and causing major disruptions to traffic and daily life.
Several roads were submerged, forcing motorists and pedestrians to wade through waterlogged stretches, while traffic crawled at a snail's pace in many areas. As per IMD reports, Prayagraj received 10.3 mm of rainfall on Monday.
The downpour, which continued till late in the evening, affected movement in markets and busy intersections across the city. Waterlogging was reported from Civil Lines, Niranjan Crossing, Balsan Crossing, DRM Crossing, Jhunsi, and the Sohbatiyabagh railway underpass, among other localities.
The India Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for Prayagraj, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds over the next few days.
According to the weather office, wind speeds may reach 30-40 kmph, and residents have been advised to remain cautious and avoid unsafe locations during adverse weather conditions.
