LUCKNOW, Oct. 29 -- Additional director general of police (ADG), Lucknow Zone, Praveen Kumar, reviewed security preparations for Deepotsav (November 7) and other upcoming religious events in Ayodhya during a meeting of the permanent security committee on Wednesday. After the meeting, Kumar inspected security arrangements at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex and took stock of the preparations for the 10th Deepotsav. Security arrangements for other events during the Kartik month, including the 14-Kosi and Panchkosi parikramas and the Kartik Purnima holy dip, were also discussed. Kumar said Kartik holds special religious significance for Ayodhya, with several major religious events drawing devotees to the city during the month. The police administration was reviewing security arrangements to ensure the peaceful conduct of all programmes, he added. "The meeting on Ram Janmabhoomi security is part of a regular process in which security arrangements for upcoming festivals are discussed," the ADG said, adding that necessary changes were made continuously to strengthen and streamline security. htc...
