JAIPUR, Aug. 19 -- The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested four police personnel from the Cyber Crime Police Station in Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2.8 lakh from a complainant. The arrested personnel have been identified as sub-inspector Yashwant Singh, constables Pawan Tripathi, Sohanlal and Gaurav Charg. The ACB said the accused had allegedly demanded money in exchange for removing the complainant's brother's name from a case registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Ayodhya. According to ACB director-general of police Govind Gupta, the complainant approached the bureau alleging that the police personnel were demanding a bribe in connection with Case No. 22/2024 registered against his brother. The ACB verified the bribe demand on August 17. During the verification, constable Gaurav Charg allegedly demanded Rs 4 lakh from the complainant. Following negotiations, the amount was settled at Rs 2.8 lakh. After confirming the demand, the ACB conducted the trap operation on Tuesday under the supervision of Jaipur ACB deputy inspector general Rameshwar Singh. The operation was led by Sikar ACB additional superintendent of police Vijay Kumar, with inspector Subhash Meel and his team. During the operation, constable Sohanlal allegedly accepted Rs 2.8 lakh from the complainant in the presence of sub-inspector Yashwant Singh and constables Pawan Tripathi and Gaurav Charg. The ACB team subsequently arrested all four police personnel. Further questioning of the accused and investigation are underway under the supervision of ACB additional director-general Smita Srivastava and inspector general of police S Parimala.
