Lucknow, Sept. 8 -- A delegation of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Uttar Pradesh unit, met chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday evening to highlight issues of educational disorder and exploitation of students in private universities and self-financing colleges. The meeting lasted two and a half hours, a delegation member said. According to an ABVP media release, the CM discussed the concerns and assured action to address them. ABVP delegation said that the CM had assured them that nobody will be spared and that those guilty of lathi-charge had been suspended. Further investigation is on and axe may fall on other cops too if found guilty in probe. The release, issued by Abhinav Mishra of ABVP's central media team, did not name Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University (SRMU), on Lucknow-Deva Road, Barabanki, where police lathi-charged students last Monday, injuring over 15 workers. The chief minister's office also shared photos of the meeting on X, noting the presence of Ghanshyam Shahi, Manoj Nikhra, Ankit Shukla, and Srishti Singh from ABVP's leadership. The Barabanki administration's demolition drive against alleged encroachment by SRMU is expected to continue on Monday, with officials confirming that the survey will proceed and unauthorised structures found on the encroached land will be razed.
