Absconding BSA arrested in Delhi
LUCKNOW, June 18 -- The Gorakhpur police on Tuesday night arrested suspended Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Shalini Srivastava from Delhi, nearly four months after she absconded in connection with a teacher suicide case, police said on Wednesday.
A reward of Rs.25,000 had been announced for information leading to her arrest.
Confirming the development, Gorakhpur additional superintendent of police (ASP) City, Patil Nimish Dasharath said Srivastava had been evading arrest since a case was registered against her at Shahpur police station on February 22, 2026. She is accused of abetting the suicide of assistant teacher Krishna Bhagwan Singh, a resident of Haraiya Buzurg village in Kushinagar district, who was posted at a government school in Deoria's Gauri Bazar area. Singh allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself in Gorakhpur's Shahpur locality on February 20.
According to police, a suicide note and a video purportedly left behind by the deceased teacher accused Srivastava and Sanjeev Singh, a clerk in the BSA office, of harassment and mental torture. htc...
