LUCKNOW, Oct. 1 -- An abandoned cab on Lucknow's new Pakka Pul in the dead of night led two policemen to a 22-year-old man struggling for his life in the Gomti, prompting one of them to row a boat into the river and pull him to safety. "Around 3am-4am on Wednesday, constables Avdhesh Kumar and Jitendra Kumar Saroj, who were patrolling the Madeyganj area, noticed a car parked on the bridge with no one inside. Suspecting that something was amiss, they began searching around the vehicle when they heard cries for help from the river," said DCP Central Vikrant Vir. The policemen spotted the cab driver in the Gomti, struggling to stay afloat and shouting for help. Avdhesh Kumar then rushed to Kudia Ghat, got hold of a boat and rowed into the river himself. After considerable effort, he managed to reach the man and pull him him back to safety.
