India, July 25 -- Nobel Prize-winning poet Louise Gluck's only published piece of fiction, Marigold and Rose is a novella about the eponymous twins' first year in the world. In deceptively simple prose, Gluck portrays the pre-linguistic inner lives of Marigold, who is "the thinking one", and Rose, who is "everything else". Even in infancy, Marigold longs for adulthood with its "vast cargo of words". She has started writing a book in her mind. Rose is sociable, curious and self-assured.
