LUCKNOW, Aug. 1 -- Nearly 9.5 kilograms of silver anklets, valued at approximately Rs.20 lakh, were stolen from a private bus in Barabanki district. The theft, allegedly carried out by four unidentified men, occurred while the consignment was being transported from Agra to Gorakhpur. The incident was reported by Krishna Kumar Khandelwal, a jeweller based in the Ram Bagh area of Agra, who has filed a complaint at the Ramsanehighat police station seeking the immediate arrest of the perpetrators. According to the complaint, two employees of Khandelwal's firm, Rahul Singh and Mayank Khandelwal, departed Agra on July 26, carrying seven boxes of silver anklets on a private bus bound for Gorakhpur. The jeweller estimated the total value of the stolen consignment at Rs.20 lakh. Police stated that the bus stopped near the Devesh Hotel in the Ramsanehighat area around 5:40 am on July 27. Shortly after, four men arrived in a car and boarded the bus. The complaint alleges a coordinated effort: two suspects distracted the employees, while the other two removed four boxes of silver anklets from a bag stored beneath a seat. The suspects reportedly fled the scene within minutes. The theft was only discovered when the bus arrived in Gorakhpur and the employees realised the boxes were missing. Upon notification, Khandelwal requested footage from the bus's CCTV system. The recordings revealed that the suspects attempted to disable the camera near the entrance by smearing it with a cream-like substance. However, they were unaware of a second, operational CCTV camera inside the bus, which clearly recorded the entire incident, including the faces of all four suspects. Circle officer Saurabh Srivastava confirmed that an FIR has been registered. Police are currently analysing the CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the suspects....
