KANPUR, June 25 -- A 75-year-old man allegedly shot his son and daughter-in-law with a licensed double-barrel gun following a dispute over crop-related money in Fatehpur district on Wednesday morning, leaving both critically injured. The incident took place in Sitapur village under Bindki. According to police, an argument broke out between Ram Khilawan Patel, 75, and his 36-year-old son, Avneesh Patel, over money linked to agricultural produce. During the altercation, Avneesh's wife, Priyanka alias Manisha, 32, intervened and sided with her husband. Investigators said the confrontation escalated when Ram Khilawan allegedly moved towards Priyanka and was pushed away by his son. Angered by the exchange, he is accused of fetching his licensed double-barrel gun and opening fire at the couple. Avneesh sustained a gunshot injury and his palm was blown off in the firing, while Priyanka was hit in the abdomen. Family members rushed the two to the local hospital in Bindki, from where they were referred to Kanpur in a critical condition.
