LUCKNOW, July 15 -- A 70 year-old woman was allegedly raped by an unidentified man on Monday evening when she had gone out in the open to defecate in Itaunja area of the city outskirts, said police on Tuesday. According to police, it is alleged that on Monday evening, an unidentified truck driver dragged the woman-who had stepped out of her home to relieve herself-into a field and raped her. Police also added that the woman sustained injuries while resisting the assault. The police have admitted the victim to the hospital, registered a case, and launched a search for the accused." Additional deputy commissioner of police (North zone) Twinkle Jain stated that a case has been registered in this matter, and a search for the accused is underway. According to her family, a search was initiated when the woman did not return home for a long time. Shortly thereafter, she was seen walking back across the road. She recounted the entire incident to her family, following which the Itaunja police were immediately informed. "Upon being informed, police arrived at the scene and sent the victim to the hospital. A case has been registered, and footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being examined. Police teams are working to identify and arrest the truck driver and locate the vehicle," added the ADCP....
