7.51 lakh (93.01%) take exam; 11 proxies held
Lucknow, July 4 -- Nearly 7.51 lakh candidates appeared on the second day of the three-day written examination for the UP Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET 2026) across 955 centres in 60 districts of the state on Friday.
In the first shift, following AI-based software screening for suspicious activity, nine impersonators (taking the exam on behalf of others) and one candidate (who had entered the exam hall with a mobile phone hidden in his shoe) were apprehended across various districts.
In the second shift, two additional impersonators were caught taking the exam for others in different districts. All of them have been handed over to the local police for further legal action.
"A total of 807,709 candidates were registered for the two shifts on Friday; of these, 751,321 candidates-representing 93.01% of the total-appeared for the exam. The attendance rate was 92.70% for female candidates and 93.36% for male candidates," said Prashant Kumar, chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission. htc...
