LUCKNOW, Sept. 8 -- As many as 624 school vehicle drivers have received adverse police verification reports under Mission Bharosa, a safety initiative launched to ensure the credentials and antecedents of people entrusted with transporting schoolchildren. The findings have raised concerns over the continued association of such drivers with school transport, particularly as some of those flagged have criminal cases registered against them, including charges of murder, molestation and rape. Also, despite the adverse verification reports, the education department is yet to send the details to the respective schools for necessary action. The initiative has so far covered 6,217 school vehicles and onboarded 3,305 drivers. Details of 229 helpers and 485 school transporters have also been entered into the system....
