VARANASI, July 22 -- The Sonbhadra police on Tuesday destroyed a large cache of illegal vehicle accessories including 70 modified silencers, 450 pressure horns and 100 hooters which were seized during a sustained special vehicle-checking drive. The items, confiscated primarily within the Robertsganj police station area, were destroyed at Swarn Jayanti Chowk under the direct supervision of superintendent of police Abhishek Verma. The crackdown is part of an ongoing initiative conducted every Saturday and Sunday since April 18, 2026. According to ASP (operations) Anil Kumar, the drive specifically targeted vehicles utilising unauthorised modifications and addressed complaints regarding noise pollution and the playing of loud, obscene, or inflammatory music in public spaces....
