PRAYAGRAJ, March 8 -- A six-year-old boy was kidnapped in broad daylight in Sarai Kala village on Saturday afternoon. The shocking incident took place moments after the child got off his school van and was walking home with his grandfather, said police. Pratik Sharma, an LKG student at Gulab Patti Inter College in Akodhakala, had returned from school around noon. As he and his 65-year-old grandfather, Nageshwar Sharma, were approaching their home, a car arriving from Dighiya stopped about 30 metres away. One of the occupants asked Nageshwar for directions to Jevniya village. As the elderly man began guiding them, another man swiftly stepped out, grabbed Pratik, and forced him into the vehicle. The car sped away before Nageshwar could comprehend what had happened. The abduction, which occurred just a few metres from the family's house, spread panic. Pratik's father, Om Prakash Sharma, works in a private firm in Mumbai and lives with his wife Aarti Devi, their two children and his parents in Sarai Kala. Following the kidnapping, family members raised an alarm, drawing villagers and local authorities to the scene.
