5 killed in road accidents in Varanasi, Sonbhadra
Varanasi, Oct. 23 -- Five people were killed in two separate road accidents that took place in Varanasi and Sonbhadra districts on Tuesday night and Wednesday.
In the first incident in Varanasi, three people, including a woman, a youth, and a one-year-old child, died after their motorcycle was hit by a dumper truck. The accident happened near Bhiti police outpost under the Ramnagar police station area on Wednesday.
Police reached the spot upon receiving information and began efforts to identify the victims.Police found an Aadhaar card identifying Om Prakash Singh,31, and informed his family. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.In the second incident in Sonbhadra, two young men, Ramkumar,35, and Himanshu ,18, died and another, Sunil ,18, sustained injuries .
Police said the three youths were travelling from Ashram turn to Dudhiya when the speeding bike went out of control and hit the tree. Ramkumar, a resident of Govindpur, and Himanshu, from Sagada in Mombasa, died on the spot, while Sunil sustained serious injuries.
Two people lost their lives in separate train accidents in the Prayagraj region within the last 24 hours, police said.
In the first incident, a 30-year-old woman named Sanju Sahani was run over by a train near Garetha village in the Manda area on Wednesday afternoon. She was with her husband and three children. According to police, the family was crossing the Delhi-Howrah railway line. While her husband Amarnath Sahani and the children crossed safely, Sanju was behind them. Witnesses said that a train created strong turbulence, which pulled her saree and dragged her onto the tracks. She died on the spot.
Railway worker Sharda Prasad informed the authorities. The Dighiya police outpost in-charge Vicky Gupta, along with police and railway teams, arrived and sent the body for postmortem examination.
In another incident on Tuesday night, an unidentified youth died after being hit by a train near the Meja Road rail overbridge, also on the Delhi-Howrah line.
Locals found the injured young man lying unconscious near the tracks and called the station master and police. He was taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Ramnagar, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police have sent the body for postmortem examination and are trying to identified the deceased....
