Kolkata, June 1 -- Five people were arrested on Sunday in connection with the alleged assault on Trinamool Congress (TMC) National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee during his visit to Sonarpur on Saturday, officials said. A case has also been registered at the Sonarpur police station following the incident., they said. Meanwhile, another senior TMC leader and party MP Kalyan Banerjee on Sunday alleged that he suffered injuries in an alleged attack by supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party when he had gone to submit a memorandum at a police station in Hooghly.
