4-yr-old girl sexually assaulted in school
Jaipur, July 30 -- A case was registered against an unidentified person for allegedly sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl in the washroom of a private school in Makrana town of Rajasthan's Didwana-Kuchaman district, police said on Wednesday. The incident triggered widespread protests and political outrage.
According to police, the child, on July 27, after returning home from school, complained of severe stomach pain. Her family took her to a private hospital, where a doctor reportedly suspected sexual assault during a preliminary examination. The family subsequently approached the Parbatsar police station and lodged a complaint on Tuesday, police said.
In the FIR, the girl's mother stated that the child told her an "uncle" had taken her to the school washroom, molested her and attempted to assault her. The child has been medically examined and is stable, police said. As news of the incident spread on Tuesday night, a large number of people gathered outside the school and staged a protest, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. Protesters also blocked a road for some time. Circle officer Vicky Nagpal, Makrana station house officer Pankaj Kumar and other police personnel reached the spot and persuaded the protesters to clear the road blockade.
Nagpal said, "A case has been registered on the basis of the family's complaint and an investigation is underway. Police teams have been formed to identify and trace the accused".
Further legal action will be taken based on the medical examination and other evidence collected during the investigation, he said....
