MEERUT, March 14 -- Four people were killed and 10 others injured in two separate road accidents within 12 hours in the Charthawal police station area of Muzaffarnagar, officials said. Among the injured, four are in critical condition and are undergoing treatment at a hospital. Soon after the incidents, passers-by and local people rushed to help the injured and shifted them to nearby hospitals. Police said the collisions were severe and some victims died on the spot. The bodies were taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination. The process of identifying the deceased has been completed, officials added. A total of 10 people sustained injuries in the accidents. Four of them are in serious condition and have been admitted to hospital for treatment, while the remaining injured received primary medical care and were later discharged. After receiving information about the incidents, circle officer (CO) Sadar Ravi Shankar and inspector Jaykishore reached the hospital to review the situation. They spoke to the injured and took updates from doctors about their condition. CO Sadar Ravi Shankar directed the hospital administration to ensure proper treatment for the critically injured victims. He said the police are closely monitoring the situation.
