4 arrested for murder, dumping body to stage accident: Police
PRAYAGRAJ, Feb. 18 -- In a shocking incident in Bajha Daulatpur village, under Jhunsi police jurisdiction, 24-year-old Kuldeep, son of farmer Ramsurat, was murdered over a financial dispute. Police on Tuesday announced arrest of four accused, including Kuldeep's friend Munna, Munna's mother Babni Devi and his brothers Pappu and Desi Bind. All have been sent to jail.
The crime came to light on Monday morning when Kuldeep's blood-stained body was discovered on the roadside outside Munna Bind's house. According to police, the deceased and the accused were friends who frequently consumed alcohol together. During an argument over money while drinking, Munna allegedly struck Kuldeep on the head with a wooden chisel.
Investigations revealed that Kuldeep had borrowed money from Munna while buying alcohol the previous night and later demanded repayment. A heated argument followed, culminating in Munna's fatal attack. Munna's mother and brothers allegedly assisted in disposing of the body on the roadside to make the murder appear as road accident.
Locals also informed the police that Kuldeep had lost Rs.2,500 in gambling at Munna's house and confronted him over the money, which is believed to have triggered the fatal assault. Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Manish Shandilya confirmed the motive appears to be a financial dispute. "All four accused have been arrested, and further legal action is underway," he stated. Police recovered the wooden chisel used in the murder after filing an FIR, which led to the arrests.
A 55-year-old woman, a widow, was allegedly strangled to death on February 1 in what police describe as a contract killing worth Rs.5 lakh in the Nawabganj police station area of Pratapgarh district. Three accused were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder, and a motorcycle along with cash was recovered from their possession.
The deceased, identified as Urmila, was a resident of Gahru Ka Purwa in Kadra village under Nawabganj police station limits. She had been living at her parental home for the past few years following the death of her husband.
After she was found dead on February 1, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Station house officer (SHO) Santosh Singh, along with his team, arrested the three accused near Kandai Mode on Tuesday: Vishal Saroj of Rajapur Mafi (Salon), Shiv Kumar of Pure Rathoura Sirsira (Salon), and Mahendra Singh, originally from Kakrara Dannahar in Mainpuri and currently residing in Pure Rathoura Sirsira.
Police recovered three mobile phones, Rs.12,200 in cash, and a motorcycle from their possession. During interrogation, the main accused, Shiv Kumar, allegedly confessed to accepting a Rs.5 lakh contract from Parmesh Patel, a resident of Salon in Rae Bareli district, to kill Urmila. According to police, Parmesh Patel, along with Vishal Saroj, Mohd. Taufiq, and another associate, conspired to carry out murder.
Investigators said the crime was planned to prevent Urmila from testifying in an ongoing dispute over a valuable piece of land. The accused allegedly conducted a reconnaissance of the area before executing the crime. Following the murder, Parmesh Patel reportedly paid Rs.2.5 lakh to the assailants, which was divided among them; the cash recovered is believed to be part of this contract amount. htc...
