LUCKNOW, July 11 -- UP Police's Lucknow Zone has registered 35 cases, arrested 39 accused and frozen or lien-marked nearly Rs 1.99 crore under Operation Vajra, a statewide drive aimed at dismantling cyber fraud networks. Launched on the directions of DGP Rajeev Krishna, the drive targets ATM cash-out gangs, cheque withdrawal frauds, mule bank account operators, suspicious mobile numbers and cybercrime hot spots. The operation was conducted simultaneously across the Lucknow and Ayodhya ranges, said officials. Police said more than 1,240 mule bank accounts used for routing fraudulent transactions were frozen during the campaign. Investigators are also tracing more suspects through technical surveillance, digital forensics and financial records. The Lucknow Range - comprising Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Rae Bareli, Sitapur and Unnao - accounted for the bulk of the action, with 28 cases registered and 31 arrests made.
