PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 9 -- A joint team of police, revenue and fire department officials seized 33,150 kg of firecrackers allegedly stored beyond the permitted capacity at a licensed warehouse in Dandi area of Naini on Friday evening, officials said. Acting on a tip-off, the team inspected the warehouse of Mohammad Aleem, son of late Mohammad Siddiq and a resident of Darashah Ajmal in Shahganj, located along the Rewa Road main route in Dandi on August 7. Officials found 1,068 cartons of firecrackers weighing 33,150 kg stored on the premises, exceeding the permitted storage capacity, said DCP (trans-Yamuna) Vivek Chandra Yadav. The entire stock was seized and further legal proceedings are underway. Naini police registered an FIR against Aleem under Section 287 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 9B(1)(b) of the Explosives Act.
