30 UP PPS officers set to be promoted to IPS; UPSC DPC meet today
LUCKNOW, June 25 -- The path has been cleared for the promotion of 30 Provincial Police Service (PPS) officers of Uttar Pradesh to the Indian Police Service (IPS), with the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) scheduled to hold a Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting on Thursday in New Delhi.
Official sources said the DPC will convene at 10.30 am to consider the cases of eligible state police officers for induction into the IPS against the promotion quota.
The meeting is expected to take up the panel of 30 PPS officers from Uttar Pradesh whose elevation to the all-India service has been under process.
The development is being seen as a significant step in the long-pending promotion exercise, which is closely watched within the state police establishment as it impacts seniority, postings and career progression of PPS cadre officers. Once the DPC finalises its recommendations, the list will move forward for further approval and formal notification as per the prescribed procedure.
Officials said the promotion of PPS officers to IPS is carried out through a selection process involving scrutiny of service records, vigilance status and other eligibility parameters by the UPSC-led committee.HTC...
