Haldwani, April 21 -- Three forest department personnel, including a forest ranger, were booked on Sunday following allegations of assaulting president of BJP Scheduled Tribe wing, Chakarpur Mandal, and a village guard in Udham Singh Nagar district's Khatima, police said. According to SHO Vijendra Shah, the action was taken after BJP leaders gheraoed the police station demanding immediate registration of a case for the assault on Vipin Rana. "Protest was led by Vikram Bhatt, president of BJP Chakarpur Mandal on Saturday. A case was registered on Sunday," Shah said. Rana said in his complaint that Harendra Bisht, ranger, along with beat officers Ganga Ram and Sundar Singh, called him to a location on the pretext of holding a discussion on Friday and then allegedly abused and assaulted him, police said.
