Rudrapur, Jan. 28 -- Three people died and two other were injured after the car they were travelling in collided head-on with a dumper in Kashipur in the early hours of Tuesday, police said. According to police, the incident took place around 5.30 pm near Aliganj colony under the ITI police station limits when the victims were returning from Delhi. Preliminary investigation suggests that the car driver may have dozed off, leading to the crash, police said. Inspector Ravi Saini, in-charge of ITI police station, said an FIR has been registered against the dumper driver, who fled the spot after the accident. "Efforts are on to trace the dumper driver," he said. Police said five men from Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district and Afzalgarh in Uttar Pradesh had travelled to Delhi on Monday. While returning, their car rammed into the dumper, following which local residents alerted the police.A police team rushed to the spot and shifted the victims to a government hospital, where three were declared dead by doctors....
