Bharatpur, April 1 -- Goons attacked a police team and opened fire during a raid on suspects in the murder of a jeweller in Nadbai town, Bharatpur, police said on Tuesday, adding that the accused were arrested. Jeweller Yogendra Chopra was shot dead and robbed of jewellery worth Rs.60 lakh by unidentified assailants on March 25, said Amar Singh Rathore, Nadbai police circle officer. A team led by Arun Singh, Nadbai police station in-charge, reached the hills of Ringaspura village under Kherli police station area in Alwar district on Monday evening after a tip-off about the suspects' location. The assailants opened fire on the Nadbai team, but police station in-charge Arun Singh escaped unharmed. Kherli police rushed to the spot on receiving news of the attack and arrested three suspects. The accused were identified as Man Singh, 27, a native of Mehwa in Dausa; Akash Gurjar, 27, a native of Mathura; and Naresh Gurjar, 22, a native of Nagar in Deeg district. Police recovered illegal weapons and live cartridges from their possession. The arrested accused are under interrogation.
