MEERUT, Sept. 3 -- A 25-year-old meat shopkeeper was shot dead near the Jat Bazaar police outpost in Amroha city late on Tuesday night. Police suspect that personal enmity may have been behind the killing. The attackers allegedly approached the victim from behind, pressed a country-made pistol against his head and shot him before fleeing. The incident took place at around 11.30 pm, sending shockwaves through the locality. The sound of the gunshot prompted nearby residents to step out of their homes. The victim, identified as Affan Qureshi, was found lying in a pool of blood. Police rushed him to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead. A complaint naming three people has been filed in connection with the murder. Police have formed three teams to track down and arrest the accused. A woman and her brother-in-law were arrested for allegedly murdering her husband in Bulandshahr, with police suspecting that an illicit relationship and the desire to acquire the victim's property were behind the crime. The incident took place on August 31 in Khetalpur Bhasoli village under the Kotwali Dehat police station area of Bulandshahr. Police identified the accused as Kajal (21), wife of the deceased Sumit Kumar (26), and Umesh (21), Sumit's brother. According to additional superintendent of police Naresh Kumar, Kajal had married Sumit around three years ago and the couple had a two-year-old child. Investigators said that after the marriage, Kajal allegedly developed an illicit relationship with Umesh. Police said the two allegedly regarded Sumit as an obstacle to their relationship....
