25 contractual power staff sacked over poor bill recovery
Lucknow, March 23 -- The Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Limited (MVVNL) has terminated 25 contractual employees in the Amausi zone for alleged negligence in electricity bill recovery.
The action targets staff deployed under the government's electricity relief billing scheme where timely recovery from defaulters is seen as critical. Officials said the employees failed to meet expectations, leading to a noticeable drop in revenue collection.
According to internal orders, the dismissed employees include eight linemen and 17 helpers. Instead of actively recovering dues from consumers under the scheme, they allegedly showed 'serious laxity', affecting overall performance. They were posted across multiple substations, including Dubagga, Malihabad, Vrindavan and Kanpur Road. The decision was cleared after approval from Riya Kejriwal, managing director (MD), MVVNL.
In a communication, superintending engineer Neki Ram directed chief engineer Ram Kumar to not only terminate the employees but also blacklist them. htc...
