JHANSI, March 25 -- BBGTS Murthy suspended 23 police constables for remaining absent from duty for over a month without informing their seniors. They were posted at different police stations across the district. Sources said the personnel took leave on false grounds, mainly citing illness. An inquiry found they were preparing for inter-department competitive exams for inspector posts, held on March 14 and 15, without prior permission. As per rules, officials must inform and seek clearance before appearing in such exams. After the exams, they reported back to duty. Based on the probe, all 23 were suspended with immediate effect. Officials clarified that the action was due to unauthorised absence and not for appearing in the examination....
