LUCKNOW, June 13 -- A 20-day-old baby girl was found abandoned inside a cardboard box near a convention centre in Lucknow's Ghazipur area, late on Thursday night, police said. According to officials, passers-by heard the infant crying and alerted police. When officers reached the spot and opened the box, they found baby wrapped in cotton. She was dressed in a pink top and a diaper. A Police Response Vehicle (PRV), personnel from Ghazipur police station and the Sarvodaya Nagar police outpost rushed to the scene and took the infant into protective custody. Station house officer (SHO) of Ghazirpur Rajesh Kumar Maurya revealed that the child has been sent to a children's home.
