2 killed in blaze at Mysuru resto pub
BENGALURU, June 16 -- A fire tore through a popular two-storey resto pub in Mysuru on Sunday afternoon, killing two kitchen employees and injuring seven others, police said, as investigators began examining whether the establishment met mandatory fire safety requirements.The blaze broke out at Fox Den Liquor Garage near Netaji Circle in Dattagalli around 3 pm while the staffers were preparing for the evening service. Police said a preliminary assessment points to an electrical short circuit in the kitchen, although the exact cause will be established only after a detailed investigation.
Confirming the incident, Mysuru City Police deputy commissioner Dr Harsha Priyamvada said, "The two cooks inside the restaurant's kitchen lost their lives in the fire accident. Seven others sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment and are out of danger. Prima facie, a short circuit appears to have caused the fire, but the exact reason will be known only after a detailed investigation."
She added that investigators were examining the building's electrical infrastructure as well as its fire safety arrangements. The authorities inspected whether the resto pub met required fire safety norms and had all mandatory clearances. "Police and Fire Department officials have conducted a preliminary inspection of the site. We are examining all aspects, including electrical systems and fire safety measures installed at the establishment. A comprehensive inquiry has been initiated," she said....
