MEERUT, Aug. 28 -- Two train attendants were killed in a tragic accident near the Bhitoura railway crossing in Bareilly on Thursday after they were struck by a passing train while standing on the tracks. The deceased were identified as Deepak Chauhan, 26, son of Sumer Singh, a resident of Nawada village in Etawah district and Vimlesh Kumar Trivedi, 28, alias Sajan, a resident of Gurbakshganj in Rae Bareli district. Both were working as train attendants, said officials. The incident occurred when train number 04014, operating from Anand Vihar to Lokha Bazaar, stopped near the Bhitoura railway crossing. Chauhan and Trivedi, who were attendants on the train, got down and were standing on the railway track. At the same time, train number 18104, the Amritsar-Tatanagar non-stop service, was approaching from the Moradabad side on the adjacent line. The two attendants were struck by the moving train and died on the spot. After receiving information about the accident, sub-inspector Pradeep Saini of Fatehganj West police station, along with head constable Narendra Singh and constable Prabhas Kumar, reached the spot. Personnel from the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Bareilly Junction also arrived shortly afterwards. The GRP carried out the necessary panchnama proceedings and initiated further legal formalities. After the deceased were identified, police informed their respective families about the accident.
