Haldwani, May 25 -- Nainital police have arrested two people in connection with the alleged murder of a contractual lineman of the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) in Ramnagar town, while a search operation is underway to trace three other accused, police said on Sunday, adding that they have been sent to judicial custody. According to station house officer (SHO) Sushil Kumar of Ramnagar police station, the case was registered on May 22 after Suman Devi, a resident of Bailparao, lodged a complaint alleging that her husband Devendra Kumar (45) was abducted, assaulted, abused and subsequently murdered by a group of individuals, including contractors from Kashipur. Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR against five accused persons under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including provisions related to murder, abduction, assault and criminal intimidation. He said efforts are underway to arrest three absconding accused.
