Agra, Sept. 12 -- Analog (fake) paneer weighing 1,000 kilogram was seized and destroyed by a team of Food Security and Drug Administration (FSDA) in Mathura on Thursday night. Analog paneer is a cheap, non-dairy imitation of traditional paneer made by replacing milk fat and milk solids with vegetable oils, palm oil, starches, and emulsifiers. The paneer was being brought from Rajasthan and was to reach Delhi via Mathura. Samples were taken of the paneer and sent for testing. Assistant commissioner, FSDA Mathura, Jatin Kumar Singh, said that because of continuous action by FSDA department in Mathura, those involved in making of such adulterated and analog edibles, have moved towards areas on Haryana and Rajasthan borders near Mathura, itself a border district of Uttar Pradesh. "However those involved, continue to manufacture and supply such material thus vigil has been enhanced. On Thursday night, a vehicle was traced on Kosi-Kaman road in Mathura and was found to be carrying 'paneer' and those in the vehicle had no documents required," said Singh. "Samples were taken and were sent for testing and the 'paneer' seized was destroyed. The driver stated that he was bringing it from a dairy plant in the Kaman area of Rajasthan but had no documents for the 'paneer' worth about 2.20 lakh," he said....
