VARANASI, April 21 -- An 18-year-old boy was killed over a dispute regarding selling puja materials, including flowers and garlands, at Telianala Ghat Sunday night under Adampur police station area of Varanasi, police said. A police officer said that the deceased was identified as Neeraj Kewat. He suffered serious head injuries when the accused persons allegedly thrashed him and hit him on his head with a brick. Neeraj's kin rushed him to the Kabir Chaura Divisional Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared him dead. The officer added that the deceased's sister Nisha and brother Dheeraj, stated that the incident stemmed from a minor altercation which soon turned ugly and one Ravindra Kewat and his accomplices Kishan, Basant, Kanhaiya, Bharat, Takalu collectively attacked Neeraj. Ravindra Kewat allegedly hit Neeraj with a brick. His accomplices, too, attacked him during which Neeraj suffered serious injuries. Following the incident, the family members created ruckus at the hospital and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.
