18 duped with fake PMAY letters, FIR lodged
LUCKNOW, Sept. 3 -- A fraud worth lakhs of rupees in the name of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) has been exposed in the state capital.
Fraudsters duped 18 people by issuing fake allotment letters of Lucknow Development Authority's (LDA) Basant Kunj Yojna.
The scam surfaced when people, who never got possession of houses, approached the LDA office.
Following an inquiry, LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar directed officials to lodge a first information report (FIR) at Gomti Nagar police station, stated an LDA note on Tuesday.
The LDA vice-chairman has appealed to citizens not to trust outsiders for PMAY allotments. Prathamesh Kumar clarified that all houses are allotted only through a transparent lottery process and that the PMAY cell at LDA Bhawan was the sole authorised office for scheme-related queries....
