16-year-old girl abducted in Kaushambi, case registered under SC/ST act
PRAYAGRAJ, June 7 -- Police registered a case under the SC/ST Act after a 16-year-old scheduled caste girl was allegedly abducted from a village in Kaushambi district. According to a complaint lodged by the girl's mother, the accused, identified as Naushad of Syed Sarawan village, allegedly lured the teenager away on June 4. The mother said she visited the accused's house searching for her daughter. She alleged that Naushad's family members abused her, used casteist remarks and threatened to kill her family when she repeatedly asked about the missing girl.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections, including provisions of the SC/ST Act, on Friday. A search operation has been launched to trace the teenager and arrest the accused.
A 25-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide in Prayagraj's Ghoorpur area following a domestic dispute over the purchase of a table fan, police said on Saturday. The incident occurred in Bikar village, under the jurisdiction of the Ghoorpur police station.

A body of a 34-year-old man bearing injury marks was found in Jogiya Kala village under Chakia police station area of Chandauli district on Saturday. Police suspect that he was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon, resulting in his death.
