15kg opium in car with fake army credentials seized in Manipur, 1 held
IMPHAL, June 15 -- Security forces have seized 15.350 kg of suspected opium concealed in a vehicle with fake army credentials and arrested an individual during frisking and checking in Manipur's Senapati district on Sunday morning, officials confirmed.
Police identified the arrested driver of the vehicle individual as Tarkeshwar Singh (45) of Hijuguri Gaon Tinsukia Margherita, Assam. The seizure was made at around 9am while conducting frisking and checking at T Khellen check-post.
Officials flagged an Innova car, during search an insignia of Army Brigadier and one nameplate with 'ARMY' written on one side and 'MINISTRY OF DEFENCE' on the other side was found in the car.
"17 packets of Opium weighing around 15.350 kg were also found inside the vehicle. Preliminary check established that neither the vehicle nor the driver had any connection with the Army.
Besides the suspected Opium, the Innova vehicle, two mobile phones, cash Rs.5,000, a PAN card and a voter ID were also seized from the driver's possession, an officer said. P4...
