15-day deadline to remove 199 encroachments in Rudrapur
Rudrapur, June 4 -- The district administration has issued demolition notices to 199 alleged encroachers in Paharganj Colony and directed them to remove illegal structures within 15 days, officials said on Wednesday.
A joint team of the administration, District Development Authority (DDA) and Rudrapur Municipal Corporation visited the colony and carried out an inspection of the encroached area. The team also served notices to the alleged encroachers.
"Earlier, around 350 encroachers in Paharganj Colony were challaned for raising illegal structures. Of them, 199 have now been issued demolition notices and given 15 days to remove the encroachments," said Pankaj Upadhyaya, additional district magistrate and secretary of the DDA.
He said those served notices have the right to appeal before the commissioner and present evidence supporting their claim over the land.
"If they fail to file an appeal or produce valid ownership documents, they will have to comply with the notices. Otherwise, the administration will proceed with demolition," Upadhyaya said.
