lucknow, March 9 -- A 14-year-old girl, employed as a domestic helper in the Thakurganj area of Lucknow, died under suspicious circumstances on Sunday. Her family accused the homeowner of rape followed by murder. The victim, a resident of Reusa in Sitapur , had been staying and working at the home of a man named Raghav in the Railway Colony, Balaganj, for approximately one year. She performed household tasks such as sweeping and mopping. Her father, a daily wage labourer living with his family in the Thakurganj-Balaganj area, received a phone call from Raghav's mother, Usha, on Sunday morning informing them that the girl had committed suicide. Rushing to the residence, the family found the teenager lying unconscious on a bed. When questioned about the circumstances, they received unclear or evasive responses, leading them to suspect foul play. The family alleged that the girl had been sexually assaulted and then killed, accusing the employer or residents of the house. Carrying the body to Thakurganj police station, the aggrieved family staged a protest outside, levelling rape charges against the girl's employer. Police attempted to counsel them, but the family initially refused to release the body for post-mortem. Only after senior officers intervened did they agree, allowing the autopsy to proceed. DCP West Vishwajit Srivastava informed that prima facie, the case appears to be one of suicide. However, following the family's complaint, an FIR has been registered. A detailed investigation is ongoing to establish the facts, including scrutiny of forensic evidence and verification of the rape and murder allegations....
