12 illegal meat shops demolished
VARANASI, Aug. 9 -- The Varanasi Nagar Nigam team led by Veterinary welfare officer Dr Vijay Amritraj demolished 12 illegally operating meat shops in the Awaleshpur area of the city on Saturday, while also seizing eight display racks from the site, officials said. The action was taken under the ongoing ban on operating meat, fish, and poultry shops within the city limits during the holy month of Sawan. Acting on instructions of municipal commissioner Himanshu Nagpal, the VNN's animal husbandry department and enforcement team-accompanied by the Chitaipur SHO and a police force-carried out the drive.
Veterinary and welfare officer Dr Vijay Amritraj clarified that such surprise inspections will continue across different city wards and main markets in the coming days. He issued a stern warning to shopkeepers, stating that if anyone is caught violating the rules again, they will face heavy fines as well as strict legal action. htc...
