12 city school vehicles challaned, 2 impounded in special drive
LUCKNOW, July 2 -- The transport department launched a special enforcement drive against school vehicles across Lucknow on Wednesday, with officials issuing challans to 12 vehicles and impounding two vans for operating without mandatory documents on the very first day of the campaign.
The special drive, being conducted on the directions of the state government and the transport commissioner, will continue from July 1 to July 15 to ensure that school vehicles comply with prescribed safety and regulatory norms.
Assistant regional transport officer (enforcement) Alok Kumar Yadav carried out inspections at several educational institutions across the city.
During the drive, officials found 12 school vehicles operating without valid permits or fitness certificates and issued challans against them.
In addition, two school vans were impounded and sent to the P4 parking facility for violating transport regulations.
The transport department has directed all school managements and vehicle owners to ensure that every school vehicle has a valid permit, fitness certificate and insurance by July 7.
Officials have warned that any school vehicle found running without a valid permit, fitness certificate or insurance after the deadline will be seized by the enforcement team. htc...
