Lucknow, Feb. 10 -- The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council was informed on Monday that as many as 12 bills have become laws following the governor's assent, and some corresponding ordinances were also tabled in the House. Making a formal announcement, principal secretary, Legislative Council, Rajesh Sigh informed the House that Uttar Pradesh Appropriation (Supplementary) Bill, 2025-26 received the governor's assent on January 2, 2026, becoming the first Act of 2026. The King George's Medical University, Uttar Pradesh (Amendment) Bill, 2025 received assent on January 1, 2026, becoming the second Act of the year. The Council was further informed that the other bills that the governor accorded assent to included the Uttar Pradesh Sugar Undertakings (Acquisition) Bill, 2025, Uttar Pradesh Rural Population Public Records (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Uttar Pradesh State Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2025, Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Fifth Amendment) Bill, 2025, Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Uttar Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh State Universities (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Uttar Pradesh Shop and Commercial Establishment (Amendment) Bill, 2025. All these Bills received the governor's assent on January 1 or January 2, 2026, and have consequently come into force as Acts of 2026.
