LUCKNOW, July 12 -- The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University (ABVMU) will confer degrees on 11,053 students and award gold and silver medals to 55 students at its second convocation on July 15, vice-chancellor Dr Amit Devgan said on Saturday. Addressing a press conference, Dr Devgan said governor Anandiben Patel would present medals to 25 meritorious students on stage. He added that women account for 7,618 (69%) of the graduating students, while 3,435 (31%) are men, reflecting the growing participation of women in medical education. The convocation will begin at the university auditorium at 10 am. Surgeon Vice Admiral KM Adhikari will be the chief guest. Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak and minister of state Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh will be the distinguished guests. Degrees will be awarded to students from MBBS, BDS, MD, MS, DM, MCh, PG Diploma, BSc (Nursing), Post-Basic BSc (Nursing), MSc (Nursing), Bachelor of Audiology, Bachelor of Physiotherapy, BSc (Lab Technology) and paramedical postgraduate programmes. htc...
