10.77L candidates appear; 31.63% skip the exam
LUCKNOW, March 16 -- About 31.63% of the 15,75,760 registered candidates did not appear for the written examination held across Uttar Pradesh over two days for direct recruitment to the posts of Sub-Inspector (Civil Police) and equivalent ranks, officials said on Sunday.
The examination, organised by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) for direct recruitment-2025, was conducted on March 14 and 15 in four shifts at 1,090 centres across 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Out of the total registered applicants, 10,77,403 candidates appeared for the examination, while around 4,98,357 candidates remained absent over the two days.
On the first day, March 14, the examination was conducted in two shifts. A total of 5,31,765 candidates appeared, while about 2,56,116 candidates remained absent.
On the second day, March 15, the remaining registered candidates were scheduled to appear in two shifts; however, around 5,45,638 candidates did not take the examination, indicating a significant absentee rate on the second day as well.
Officials said the examination across all four shifts was conducted peacefully and in a well-managed manner with elaborate administrative and security arrangements at all centres.
Authorities said strict monitoring of online and offline platforms was also carried out to prevent any attempt to compromise the integrity of the recruitment process.
